In the creative and celebratory spirit of Newark’s 350th birthday, the murals- Newark Now, Newark in the Future, and We Are Newark-- were created by Newark residents in group painting activities that took place on October 17, 2015 as part of the Newark Celebration 350 (NC350) kick-off in Military Park. More than 1,000 neighbors from across our community contributed their designs, impressions, and wishes to the murals. These art vitrines are a new community exhibition space provided by Prudential and programmed by the Newark Museum.
The display of the NC350 murals is the inaugural exhibition and will remain on view through March 31, 2016.
We Are Newark is a celebration of self-portraits in a rainbow of colors arching across a stylized city skyline with the new Prudential Tower at the center. More artistic self-portraits will be added to the rainbow as they are created at Newark Museum events and programs. Stop by and check out the amazing exhibit for yourself!
