There was so much great energy in Military Park on Saturday May 14 as thousands came to celebrate Newark’s 350th birthday with one of New Jersey’s greatest hip hop groups, Grammy Award- winning trio, Naughty by Nature.

Host and emcee extraordinaire, Rah Digga shifted the audience closer to the stage to prepare everyone for an amazing performance.  Many gathered from far and wide and waited in the drizzly rain just to get a glimpse of this legendary group taking the stage.  Screaming fans and friends, were eager to see the East Orange high school friends and rap royals–Treach, Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee–perform some of their greatest hits including, “O.P.P.” (one of rap history’s all time top singles).  The group took a moment for a dedication to legendary icon, Prince, and hip-hop/rap sensation, Tupac.  The group was joined on stage throughout the night by guest performers such as Bumpy Knuckles, Kazzie and Ms. Nana.

As the performances came to a close, Naughty by Nature members requested Mayor Ras. J. Baraka to the stage to thank him for his work in bringing positive changes to the City of Newark.  NBN’s homecoming in Newark, the city where they made their mark, continued into the night as hardcore fans followed the group to their tour bus, eagerly waiting for a chance to see them up-close and take photos.
