Sarah Vaughan First-Day-of-Issue Stamp Ceremony

Sarah Vaughn Postal Stamp

The United States Postal Service will release a Sarah Vaughan Commemorative Forever Stamp during a First-Day-of Issue Stamp Ceremony honoring Newark’s jazz and pop singer who was described as having “one of the most wondrous voices of the 20th century.” Program includes the stamp dedication by USPS Deputy Postmaster General, Ronald Stroman, remarks by Grammy-awarding singer Dianne Reeves, proclamation by Mayor of Newark Ras J. Baraka and performances by Tony award-winning actress & singer Melba Moore, NJPAC Jazz for Teens Ensemble, the Mount Zion Baptist Church Choir plus other performers and distinguished guests including Dr. Gloria White, Pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Marisa Budnick of the NJPAC Young Artist Institute, Carrie Jackson, Central High School ROTC Honor Guard and Mark Ruffin of Real Jazz at Sirius XM.

Free and open to the public event requiring tickets.
