This one-day conference will address questions of preservation writ small and large – in individual buildings and entire neighborhoods – as the pace of development in Newark accelerates. Nationally known keynote figures in historic preservation will join panels of eminent Newarkers to explore preservation’s relationship to the economic and social health of the city, the legal framework that makes it possible, and the role of history in the lives of Newark residents and in the larger metropolitan region.
