Moving New Jersey’s Communities Forward as One: A Critical Conversation about Race and Policing

Recent tragedies present an important moment for New Jersey to transform the relationship between law enforcement and the community in a way that serves as a national model for police reform. This panel, facilitated by New Jersey Institute for Social Justice President and CEO Ryan P. Haygood and moderated by Sandra King, Executive Producer of the 25-time Emmy Award-winning program Due Process; also includes an unprecedented lineup of community leaders, activists and experts from New Jersey: LaShawn Y. Warren (Vice President & General Counsel, New Jersey Institute for Social Justice),  Anthony Ambrose (Newark Public Safety Director), Ras J. Baraka (Mayor of the City of Newark), Rod Brunson  (Dean, Rutgers School of Criminal Justice), La Keesha Eure (Chair, Newark Anti-Violence Coalition), Peter Harvey (independent federal monitor, Newark Police Department), Zellie Imani (lead organizer, Black Lives Matter, Paterson) and Junius W. Williams (Chairman of Newark Celebration 350, Director of the Abbott Leadership Institute, Rutgers-Newark). All are invited to attend this free, solutions-oriented forum led by a panel of community leaders.
