During the 19th century, Newark was one of America’s wealthiest cities and an important center of manufacturing and technical innovation. Newark’s factories supplied the nation with a wide variety of machinery, leather goods, jewelry and electronics. This panel will explore Newark’s industrial heritage through some of its most famous manufacturers and inventors, including Seth Boyden, the inventor of patent leather, and Hannibal Goodwin, who patented camera film on celluloid. Reserve your seat using the code HISTORY. Admission is free!
