Branch Brook Park became the First County Park in America on June 15, 1895, built on land donated to Essex County by the City of Newark. This program, a collaboration between Clement A. Price Institute on Ethnicity, Culture and the Modern Experience and Newark Celebration 350, will present an overview of the earliest days of Branch Brook Park; the success of the Branch Brook Park Alliance’s partnership with Essex County to restore the Park and present the research required to develop the plans for the restoration of the Park.
